Even though it was VERY cold, the kids still had a good time seeing the animals at the zoo!
Congratulations to Sophie and Cole, who both received positive office referrals from me! They are both such great role models. They listen, help others, complete their work, and are always happy to learn new things! So proud of them both. They will be called down to the office at some point to see Mrs. Dzik about the great things they have done!
Students chose a partner or group of 3 and were given supplies. The challenge was to make car that would travel the farthest and that could be propelled using their breath. For fun, we put a peep on the car. The top winning car was made my Payton and Jack! Way to go! Second place was a car made my Kevi and Natalie. Third place was a car made by Sophie, Cole, and Emily. Nice job to everyone who tried!!
The kids being silly with our freshly planted "grass heads." Soon they will have grass "hair" of their own! We read a story called Catching the Moon, which is based on a true story about a girl who wants to play baseball when she grows up. Many obstacles stood in her way, but she worked hard and overcame them to achieve her dreams. We also talked about how this relates to the students' lives and achieving their dreams.
The students had a great time playing minute to win it Valentine'a games, making ice cream sundaes, having relay races, and playing Valentine's BINGO. Here are some photos of our class that monthly assembly that rewards kids who follow the school expectations. Also, please see how our kids have been LOVING the yoga balls and wobble stools that we have had for about a month now! These help them move and learn at the same time. Here are some photos from our holiday hot chocolate rotations, from a fun STEM activity where they had to build the biggest shelf for an elf, and from a cute writing they did about why they should be hired as Santa's new elf! Brodie Lund's mom came to read to us last week on Thursday! She read 2 fun books. Then, Sophie's older brother John came to read to us on Friday! He was made the kids laugh!! This week, we made a thankful "lap book" that we put a lot of time into. Students listed people, places, hobbies, and foods they are thankful for. We also had fun Native American rotations today, where the students went to each 2nd grade teacher's room for 25 minutes to learn and create something! Jazzy's mom came to read to our class today! She read two great books There was an Old Lady Who Swalowed a Bat and Love You Forever. We loved both! Also, all of our 2nd grade classes had a Veteran come talk to us today in honor of Veterans Day on Friday. He was a former Marine who works for a veteran and families organization. Finally, Gianna was our first student to receive a positive office referral! Great job! |
